It is essential that the implementation of the legislative provisions for access in the Building Act 1991 and NZ Building Code is consistent throughout New Zealand, and that the International Symbol of Access (ISA) is appropriately displayed. Accredited Barrier Free Advisors will assess the accessibility of facilities and advise if it is appropriate for the building to display the ISA.
