Resource Handbook
The Handbook describes the specific requirements for access by people with disabilities in the context of "universal access design," which improves usability of the built environment and promotes the safety and well-being for everyone in the community.
The Purpose of the Handbook is to:
- Promote a barrier free environment for everyone including people with disabilities.
- Outline the legal requirements for access.
- Describe the various alternative means of complying with the legal requirements.
- Provide guidance for checking and reporting on building compliance with accessibility requirements and the legal requirements.
- Establish guidelines for checking the display of the International Symbol of Access (ISA).
