2 Day Barrier Free Seminar
This 2 day seminar covers Modules 1 to 4. By successfully completing these Modules, the seminar gives you the opportunity to further your training to become a Barrier Free Advisor and/or can qualify to be put forward for CPD Points
Before attending the 2 day seminar, participants should be familiar with the Building Act 2004, Building Code and Compliance Documents, Building Regulations, and NZS 4121:2001

The Trust provides an opportunity for people who have attended a 2-day Barrier Free Seminar to further their training to become a BFA.

Accessibility and Design: Access and Use of Buildings
This seminar has been designed principally for those with a detailed working knowledge of the Building Act 2004 (and associated documents, regulations and standards). To view the flyer, please click here.
However the programme content focuses on the interaction of people and the built enrivonment, so will be useful training for those involved in design, construction, management of buildings and for community organisations supporting users with disabilities who use the public spaces and places.

Half-Day Seminar for Architects and Designers
This seminar gives an understanding of what is required in the design and documentation process to ensure an accessible built environment that complies with NZ building legislation
Participants must have a general working knowledge of the Building Act 2004, Building Code and Compliance Documents, Building Regulations, and NZS 4121:2001
This seminar will be facilitated by Ron Pynenburg, currently Chairperson of NZRAB, Life member and fellow of NZIA and past member of Architects Education and Registration Board. Ron has 23 years experience in the architecture industry and is an experienced BFNZT presenter
Content:
- People with disabilities and the barriers in the built environment
- What the legislation requires - the Act, Code, and processes
- Design solutions and resources
Time allocated:
3 hours (9am-midday usually)
