Requirements for Quality Access using NZ Standard 4121

We have been contracted by the Earthquake Disability Leadership Group to produce a guidance document for use in the Christchurch rebuild. The document is intended to be a best practise guide to implementing the access requirements of the NZ Building Act 2004. We sought and received input from many groups and where appropriate have incorporated their recommendations on best practice. The document and associated checklists will be launched, May 27 in Christchurch and will be available to download from our website and the other organisations which helped to fund the document.

BFNZT - Christchurch Rebuild

With so much potential in Christchurch to create a genuinely accessible city, we have opened an office in Christchurch.

BFNZT/CSS Disability Action

At the March 2013 Trust Meeting, CSS Disability Action and BFNZT signed an MOU. This symbolised the cohesion in our vision for accessibility for all people and an agreement to work collaboratively to achieve that vision.

NZS4121 Now Available Free of Charge

The New Zealand Standard 4121 is now available free of charge on the Standards New Zealand website thanks to Barrier Free New Zealand Trust and their other sponsor organisations. The Trust had a meeting today with members of several disability groups and the building sector, along with Minister Tariana Turia, to launch the free PDF issue of NZS4121.
